How the 2026 NFL playoff schedule works?

The National Football League has 32 teams, divided equally into the AFC and NFC conferences, with each conference further divided into four divisions of four teams each. As of 2025, the top seven teams in each conference, seeded 1 through 7 based on their overall record, will qualify for the playoffs.

Excluding the Super Bowl host location, every playoff game’s host city is determined by the 1–7 seeds. The No. 1 seed earns a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the Divisional Round, facing the winner of the lowest-seeded team from the Wild-Card Round. The No. 2 seed will host the No. 7 seed, the No. 3 seed will host the No. 6 seed, and the No. 4 seed will host the No. 5 seed during Wild-Card Weekend. In the Divisional and Conference Championship rounds, the top-seeded team will host the lowest-seeded team during the playoffs.

Please note: The playoff schedule including, time, date, TV, location are subject to change.
