Super Bowl

The Super Bowl has been the National Football League’s (NFL) championship game of every season since 1966. The first Super Bowl, known as the AFL–NFL World Championship Game, took place on January 15, 1967, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. In the game, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10, with Norm Schachter serving as the referee. The legendary Vince Lombardi led the Packers as head coach, while Hank Stram coached the Chiefs, and Quarterback Bart Starr earned MVP honors in front of 61,946 fans. The Vince Lombardi Trophy was named after the honorable Packers head coach and continues to be awarded to the winning team.

The NFL strictly restricts the use of the ‘Super Bowl’ trademark, which is why it is often referred to as the ‘Big Game,’ ‘Super Bowl Sunday,’ or ‘Super Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots win highest six Super Bowl titles, but the Pats have 11 Super Bowl appearances. There are 12 teams remaining that have never won it.
