Super Bowl
The Super Bowl has been the National Football League’s (NFL) championship game of every season since 1966. The first Super Bowl, known as the AFL–NFL World Championship Game, took place on January 15, 1967, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. In the game the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 with Norm Schachter serving as the referee. The legendary Vince Lombardi led the Packers as head coach, while Hank Stram coached the Chiefs and Quarterback Bart Starr earned MVP honors in front of 61,946 fans. The Vince Lombardi Trophy was named after the honorable Packers head coach that continues to be awarded to the winning team.
